If you’re after a takeaway but don’t want to undo the progress you have made all week, then this fakeaway option should be one of your go to recipes!
With the option of a homemade flatbread. The is recipe is fresh as they come, full of flavour, with zero compromise on quality.
Gryos are a traditional Greek style kebab dish, that are usually served with chips. This is optional, of course to suit your taste. Also if you don’t want to make your own flatbread, a quality shop bought one will do!
Give it a go, and let me know what you think:
Ingredients For Gyros (per person)
- 150g of Chicken
- 1/2 tsp of Garlic Granules.
- 1/2 tsp of Oregano.
- 1 tbsp of Greek Yoghurt.
- Squeeze of Lemon Juice.
- Salt and Pepper to Taste.
Ingredients For the Flatbread (optional)
For 2 Flatbreads:
- 100g of Self Raising Flour.
- 4 tbsp of Natural or Greek Yoghurt.
- 1 tsp of Olive Oil.
- Pinch of Salt.
Method
- Chop the chicken into medium/large chunks and place in a bowl.
- Mix together with the herbs, lemon and yoghurt.
- Leave to rest for as long as possible. If you have enough time, up to an hour will do.
- Heat up a frying pan to a medium/high heat. Fry the chicken until cooked through.
For the Flatbread:
Mix the ingredients together to form a dough. It may be a little sticky but if you keep kneading it, it will come smoother. If not then a touch more flour will help. If it’s too dry then add a touch more yoghurt.
Roll them out on a dusted surface and lightly fry them with some low cal spray for a couple of mins each side until they brown.
Serve them with Salad and a sauce of your choice. Tzatziki works really well.
If you fancy a change, try with other meats such as Lamb, Beef or even Fish!
Enjoy.
