If you’re sick of substandard hotdogs that don’t hold their own at your family BBQ, then level them up…. Fully loaded style!
Loaded Hotdogs can be a great “Showstopper” at any BBQ. They are great to make with the kids and they are also a cheap way to make your BBQ stand out during the summer!
Now, there are some non-negotiables that must be discussed when it comes to loaded hotdogs…
- It must be good quality pork sausages (unless dietary requirements dictate otherwise).
- Has to be a Brioche Bun.
Other than that, you are good to go with any toppings of your choice.
However… this wouldn’t be a good food blog if I didnt at leat give you some options to choose from. So see below for some of my favourites!
Sweet Mustard, Grilled Peppers and Onions.

- Pork Sausage.
- Grilled Green Peppers and Onions (in some light oil).
- Topped with Honey Mustard and Crispy Fried Onions.
Jalapeneo Salsa with Lime and Garlic.

- Pork Sausage.
- Lime Salsa (see below).
- Jalapeneos.
- Topped with Jalapeneo Relish.
To make the Lime Salsa:
- Finely chopped Red Onion.
- Finely chopped Tomato.
- 1x Clove of Garlic (chopped fine).
- Sea Salt.
- Pepper.
- Juice of a Lime.
Smoked Cheese and Caramelised Onion.

- Pork Sausage.
- Slice of Smoked Cheese.
- Topped with Caramelised Onions (see below).
To make the Caramelised Onions:
- Slice 1 Red Onion.
- Bring a frying pan to a medium heat.
- **Tip – to stop them from buring, add a dash of water to soften them and keep the temperature down.**
- Once softened, add a teaspoon of honey and continue to simmer into the honey has caramelised.
- Sea Salt to taste.
And that’s Loaded Hotdogs!! Give them a try! I would love to hear your combinations and see what you have tried!!
