Crispy Chilli Beef Fakeaway

It’s Friday night and you are looking and the “rubbish draw”.

Every household has one.

That draw you have in your kitchen. Screw driver, batteries, sewing kit…. But most importantly takeaway menus!!!

You’re looking through for inspiration but you can’t decide and you still have a glimmer of hope that you can keep on top of your diet you have been sticking to all week!

That’s where the Fakeaway comes in.

Takeaway classics made at home…. No compromise on flavour, but half the calories.

If that sounds like you then give this Crispy Chill Beef style curry a try… Recipe below:

Ingredients

  • 200g of Steak Strips.
  • 1 tsp of Flour.
  • 2 tsp of Soy Sauce.
  • 1 tsp of Ginger Paste.
  • 1 tsp of Garlic Paste.
  • 2 tsp of Chinese 5 Spice.
  • 1 tbsp of Honey.
  • 2 Spring Onions.
  • 1 Red Pepper.
  • 1 Red Chilli (Optional for preference).
  • White Wine Vinegar.
  • 2 tsp of Sweet Chilli Sauce.
  • 1 tbsp of Tomato Sauce or Puree.

Method

  • Coat the steak in the flour, soy, ginger, garlic and Chinese 5 spice and stir.
  • Add in the honey, stir again and refrigerate for around an hour (if you’re short on time then you can skip the fridge).
  • Fry off the steak and allow to brown.
  • Add in the peppers, chillies and spring onions and allow to soften.
  • Add in a big glug of white wine vinegar, the sweet chilli sauce and tomato sauce, then stir in.
  • Transfer into a lined baking tray (with foil) and top with some more honey. Bake in the oven on around 180 degrees for 20 mins.

Top with some fresh chilli and serve with rice, homemade chips… Or both!!!

Give it a go and as always, let me know what you think!!
